Cascades Trail – Lake Mountain
Experience one of Victoria’s most thrilling mountain bike descents! The Cascades Trail runs from the top of Lake Mountain through scenic alpine forest and fun singletrack into Marysville. With nearly 30 km of trail, big elevation drops, and varied terrain, it’s a favourite for intermediate and advanced riders. Shuttle services make it easy to start at the summit and enjoy the ride all the way down.
Road cycling up Lake Mountain
The ride from Marysville to Lake Mountain is one of Victoria’s most iconic alpine climbs, featuring a 21 km sealed ascent through towering eucalypt forests and sweeping mountain views. Popular with recreational and serious cyclists alike, it's also part of the 7 Peaks Challenge, drawing riders from across the country to test their endurance on this scenic climb.
Buxton Mountain Bike Park
Just a short 10 min drive from Marysville, Buxton MTB Park offers over 20 km of purpose-built singletrack weaving through beautiful bushland. With flowing trails, natural berms, and gentle climbs, it’s perfect for riders of all levels — from relaxed weekend cruisers to experienced mountain bikers. Surrounded by tall gums and fern-lined trails, it’s a must-ride destination for anyone exploring the region on two wheels.
Eildon Mountain Bike Park
Just beyond Lake Eildon, this park offers a mix of flowy loops, technical singletrack, and downhill sections through scenic bushland. With trails suited to all levels, from beginners to advanced riders, it’s a great option for those seeking variety of tracks and is just 35 mins drive from Marysville.
Warburton Mountain Bike Park
Victorias newest MTB track, just over an hour from Marysville, Warburton Mountain Bike Park has launched its first 30 km network of purpose‑built trails through the scenic Yarra State Forest, offering mostly easy to intermediate rides with flowing singletrack that’s ideal for riders of all skill levels. With more trails planned… eventually expanding to over 100 km of diverse terrain… it’s fast becoming one of Victoria’s most exciting mountain bike destinations.

Riders must arrive at least 20 minutes early to load the bikes.
Allow for a 30-minute trip to Lake Mountain Alpine Resort which is the head of the Cascades trail.
It pays to book a few days ahead and check the weather too.

Out back, you’ll find a bike wash bay with a purpose-built mount — perfect for a post-ride clean or quick maintenance.
🚗 Please note: all undercover parking areas have a height clearance of 2350mm — be cautious if arriving with roof-mounted bikes.
